The Domus Aurea or Golden House, was built by the emperor Nero after the great fire of Rome. It was built for a dual purpose. The first was as a official residence for Nero. The second was for the enjoyment of the Roman people. It was huge and was a masterpiece of innovation. What many historians gloss over is that much of the area covered by the Domus Aurea was open to the public. Its landscaped gardens and lakes brought the country to the city.
The Colosseum was originally built on the site of Nero's palace, the Domus Aurea. This was done by Emperor Vespasian in order to disassociate himself from Nero, who was hated. It is in the center of modern day Rome just east of the Forum.

Nero's Golden House, also known as the Domus Aurea, was an expansive palace complex built in the heart of ancient Rome after the Great Fire of 64 AD. It covered approximately 300 acres and included lavish gardens, artificial lakes, and grand architectural features. The palace was renowned for its opulence, with intricate mosaics, frescoes, and gold leaf decorations throughout. Its scale and extravagance symbolized Nero's excesses and led to significant public backlash.
If someone were wealthy enough to live in a free standing house (domus), they usually had a slave to do the cooking.
Nero, the Roman Emperor, ruled from 54 to 68 AD and is historically associated with ancient Rome. However, he does not have a modern address, as he lived nearly two millennia ago and the locations relevant to him, such as the Palatine Hill or the Domus Aurea, are historical sites rather than current addresses. If you meant a different "Nero," please provide more context.

The Domus Aurea or Golden House was important because it was a milestone in building construction. Concrete was used for the first time in a residential structure, enabling a octagon shaped room to be covered with a dome. The domus also had a rotating dining room, the forerunner of our rotating restaurants. There were many more architectual innovations and new surprises are being uncovered.

The phrase 'Domus Aurea' means 'Golden House'. Its construction began in the year 64. It was the pet building project and residence of Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus [December 15, 37-June 9, 68]. With Nero's suicide, the area was filled in and covered over with earth for the subsequent building of the Baths of Titus and of Trajan, the Colossus Neronis, the Flavian Amphitheatre, and the Temple of Venus and Rome. Below the ground, the 'Domus Aurea' was forgotten until its rediscovery in the 15th century. To this day, it hasn't been excavated in its entirety. So estimates as to its total size have ranged from less than 100 to more than 300 acres.
