It is well believed that Harold Godwinson died by being shot in the eye. But there are other theories. Beside the man being shot in the eye on the bayeux tapestry, there is a man being trampled by a horse. Some historians believe this to be Harold. There is also another theory that he didn't die at all and in fact went into hiding.
But he probably got shot in the eye. It's the most likely.
He probably didn't. Certainly he died in the battle, but no historian records the arrow in the eye. In the Bayeux tapestry, in the scene entitled 'here the King is killed', there is a small figure in the bottom right-hand corner with an arrow in his eye, but he doesn't wear a crown and is not in any way prominent.
Because the Duke of Normandy made his archers shoot high in the air so they had more of a chance of hitting Harold!
Probably neither. The evidence is that the 'arrow' shown to be striking Harold in the eye was actaully a later repair to the tapestry.

Harold had the shield wall
It was the English King, Harold Godwinson, who was killed at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Harald Hadrada was the Viking leader who was killed at the Battle of Stamford Bridge days earlier. The Saxons made the mistake of breaking their shield wall when they thought that the Normans were retreating. The mounted Normans turned round and slaughtered the Saxon warriors caught out in the open. Up until the shield wall broke, the battle could have gone either way.
what advantages did the English have at the battle of hastings
Harold was a foot soldier so he couldn't control his soldiers. Please note all English soldiers were on foot, horses were used to get to the battle but not used in the actual. His men ran after the enemy when they faked retreat and broke the shield wall-which was until then protecting them very very well

The king at the Battle of Hastings was Harold II (Godwinson). He defeated King Harald (Hardrada) and about 4000 Norwegians at the Battle of Stamford Bridge on September 25, 1066, three weeks before the Battle of Hastings. On October 14, 1066, at Hastings, there were anywhere from 4000 to 30,000 men on each side. Harold's forces fell to those of William of Normandy, who had landed at Pevensey on September 28. Harold was killed in the battle, and William became the king of England as William the Conqueror.
He wanted to kill William and let everyone else be free. And so he could be king until he lay on his death bead......... :) oh and he also got his troops to build a shield wall and wait till Williams army tired then they would attackkkk
