Why was Rosa Parks important to history of America?

She was the woman that refused to give her seat at the front of the bus up to the white man, and move to the back. She inspired a lot of people, not only African Americans, in the quest for civil rights.

Rosa Parks was an African-American civil rights activist, whom the U.S. Congress called "the first lady of civil rights" and "the mother of the freedom movement".

On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Parks refused to obey bus driver James F. Blake's order that she give up her seat in the colored section to a white passenger, after the white section was filled.

Parks also played an important part in raising international awareness of the plight of African Americans and the civil rights struggle.
