The Battle of Naseby, June 14th, 1645 led Charles I to taste bitter defeat. He was defeated by the Parliamentarian New Model Army commanded by Sir Thomas Fairfax and Oliver Cromwell.
He was very successfull as he beat Charles with his improved new model army in the cicil war at Naseby!
The colonists had not won a battle and they were discouraged. It was the end of the year and if they didn't win a battle soon General Washington feared that his troops would not rejoin the militia. By winning the battle he was able to not only keep his current soldiers but gain new ones as well

These proved that the King was interested in hiring foreign mercenaries and bringing in money from abroad. Seizing their opportunity, Parliament published the papers. The Royalist cause already on an unsteady footing, Charles' papers proved to be a political disaster for The Royalists.
