At the beginning of the century, Elizabeth I. After she died, James I and then Charles I. From 1649 till 1660 there was the Protectorate instead of a king or queen. The Monarchy was restored with Charles II, James II, and then William and Mary. William lived into the 1700s.
Once Charles I got executed by Oliver Cromwell in the English Civil War, Oliver became a President but he got executed and Charles I son 'Charles' took over and became Charles II. Charles then became ill and James II took over from him.
