The voters elected Louis Napoleon because of his beliefs that government should represent the people and help them economically. He also made promises for better housing and public facilities. A great boost to his election was the recognition of his the name "Napoleon." This was because everybody seemed to remember all the great Napoleon had done and none of the bad.
