It was important because of the flow of the Nile. When the Nile flooded, rich fertiled soil called silt was moved along by the river and dropped in piles. Farmers would use to Plant their crops. If the flood of the Nile was to little, the crops would be flooded and Egypt would go through famine. If the flood of the Nile was to much, The crops would be destroyed.
