Why we need to learn about the ancient civilization?

So we can look at all of the past mistake the human race has made and learn from them. If we don't learn from our mistakes then history will keep repeating itself, and bad events will repeat themselves.

We looked at the mistakes we made with the titanic (not enough life boats, etc.) and we learnt from it by passing laws to make sure that everyone on a boat will have a seat on a life boat, and that evacuating procedures are better prepared.

We didn't how ever look at the mistakes we made with the wall street crash of 1929, the same mistakes were made in banking and now exactly the same thing has happened again, and we are in another recession.
