Conceivably, but not for a while. I can think of 5 ways the US could be destroyed as an entity:
1. Conquest by a foreign power
2. Nuclear war
3. Civil war
4. Peaceful dissolution (give way to world government, anarchism, etc.)
5. Gradual marginilisation (other instiutions eg corporations gradually make national governments irrelevant)
With the exception of number 2, which there's a small chance an accident could cause at any time, all these seem pretty far off, with maybe 5 then 3 the most likely. I think America now has just as much national identity as Britain, France or Russia, and these have all lasted for over half a millenium. Then again, who knows what kind of stuff the next century has lined up for us.
