Wendy got its name because the person who created it named it after his daughter.

It was named after the daughter of Dave Thomas (the founder of Wendy's). She was his fourth child and her name was actually Melinda Lou Thomas, but as a child, she had difficulty saying her name and said it, "Wenda." Her older siblings nicknamed her Wendy and it stuck, becoming the name of her father's fast food chain.
