Caesar crossed the English Channel from what is now known as France, from a location called Portus Itius. Portus Itius may be the modern Boulogne-sur-Mer but we're not sure.
They had to use ships and boats.

In 43 AD, Claudius sent the general Aulus Plautius with four legions to Britannia. After the first campaigns Claudius joined the operations, bringing reinforcements and elephants. Claudius conquered only southern England.

In 78, Vespasian sent Agricola to Britannia to extend its conquest. Agricola conquered northern England and pushed into Scotland. Earlier in his career Vespasian, who had been appointed commander of the Legio II Augusta, took part in the first invasion of Britannia. He was involved in the early battles on the rivers Medway and Thames. He was then sent to conquer the West Country and took Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

The conquest of Wales began in AD 48 and took 30 years to complete because of fierce resistance and the mountainous terrain of the area.

Why were the Roman Army so successful for there training?

They were highly disciplined, with intelligent and effective commanders, were issued good quality equipment, and were well trained in the use of their equipment and effective combat formations and manoeuvres. The Romans also made a point of learning as much as they could about their enemies prior to engaging them in combat so they could take advantages of the enemies weaknesses and take contingencies against their strengths.Of course this was not always the case, most of the major defeats of the Roman army can be traced to failures of one or more of these factors.

What is the history of the Roman Empire and why did the Roman Empire fall?

Answer:There is a lot of history that I know about the Roman Empire; therefore, it will take me forever to answer it. Therefore, I will only tell you how they fell. The Fall of the Holy Roman Empire:I believe the Roman Empire fell because when they split in to the Eastern empire, they could not afford a huge army without the wealthiness of the East. This made them more vulnerable to the East, and there were a lot of diplomatic problems. The main contribution to the fall of the Roman Empire was the Huns, who were nomads who invaded the weaker lands of Rome, and also invaded more heavily armed areas, such as Constantanople.http://www.fsmitha.com/com/Rome.htmAll of this is very true and very important but you shouldn't forget about the goths, their extreme rancor against the Romans modivated them to take over the empire.
