The rules of Trigon have not drifted down to us, but here's what we do know about it. The players stood in a triangle of about 20 feet and it was played with a hard ball which was also called a trigon. The object of the game was apparently to throw to another player so that he could not catch it. Feinting was allowed and two balls could be in play at the same time. Catching a ball left-handed was considered a sign of a skillful player. Transferring the ball from one hand to the other seems to have been part of the play along with a reversal of clockwise/counterclockwise play. Batting a ball back to the sender without actually catching it was considered skillful play. If a man missed a catch, it was a score for the opponent. There's also a possibility that there were many ways to score points, such as batting a ball, a left-handed catch or hitting your opponent with the throw. All in all, Trigon seems to have been a game of skill and "heads up" play.
