Philosophically, the Romans believed that it was their 'duty' to 'civilize' other 'less fortunate' peoples. This ideology came about from the teachings of Panaetius, and is part of the Stoic school of philosophy.
Panaetius explains that "such an imperium is rightful because servitude is in the interest of such people ... in place of anarchy and struggle of all against all and perpetual feuds of individual population groups against one another emerge peace ad order, or in short the rule of law." The Romans believed that only their 'civilizing influence' could save these lesser peoples, and thus romanization became very important to them. it must be said, however, that in the process of colonization, the Romans did not merely exert their own ideas, beliefs and philosophies onto the subjugated peoples, rather a bilateral and often multilateral exchange occurred between cultures, in which Rome took aspects of their cultures, and made it Roman. Further on into the imperium, colonization became important as a device to secure wealth, power and fame, as well as a sense of stability and 'world order'.
The most important thing to ancient Rome is difficult to pinpoint as there were many things that concerned the ancient Romans. However, one of the most important things, if not the most important thing to the Romans was the welfare of the state. The Romans made art for pleasure, as a form of visual expression of emotion, and as a passion, the same as modern artists.
Helmets were important to the Romans because they protected the head and prevented many serious injuries, just as helmets today protect those wearing them. The Romans used helmets for much the same purposes as we do, such as, in the military, in chariot racing and in gladiatorial combats.Helmets were important to the Romans because they protected the head and prevented many serious injuries, just as helmets today protect those wearing them. The Visigoths defeated the Romans at the Battle of Adrianople in 378. This was the second worse defeat in Roman history. Adrianople was near modern day Edirne, in European Turkey.
Before of being important, colonization is inevitable.
Your question is too vague. What people are you inquiring about? What colonies? If you are referring to the ancient Romans, religion was at the bottom of the list as far as colonization was concerned, although a very few religious minded people may have wanted to be living near a shrine or some other sacred place. The Romans' main motives for colonization were for land for their veterans and for the expansion of security and trade.
Colonization is important because
John Smith
The Romans were Latins.
Colonization supported increased economic and political power of the colonizing countries. this was important as the European countries were competing intensely with each other.
