The word "Renaissance" come from a word meaning "rebirth in the interest of arts." Before the Renaissance, people thought life was all about suffering and hard work on Earth until you got to heaven. During the Renaissance, people started to explore and invent. They discovered that life wasn't all suffering and started to invent and trade. Guilds were set up and traits were learned. Humanism was created (the study of man and his accomplishments). The Bible was translated from Latin (which the peasents couldn't understand) to the vernacular language (the common language of the pesants-the poor people). Many great artists lived during this time. The time period was around 1400~1600ad. Five famous people: Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Donatello, Raphael, and Galileo. The biggest family known during this time, Medici, gave several leaders; also, they patroned Michelangelo.
The medieval times were the Middle Ages. The two mean the same thing. The Middle Ages was a period from about the 5th century (476 is one date given) to the the middle of the 15th century (1453 and 1492 are commonly given). It began with the fall of the West Roman Empire, which fell rather slowly, and lasted until the beginning of modern times. It included a number of divisions, and also included about half of the Renaissance.The period in human history in Europe, often called the Middle Ages, and also medieval times, began in the era following the end of the ancient Roman empire in the West. Europe was in a period of kings ruling different parts of the continent with no clear boundaries that later followed. It was a time of knights, Crusades, and dominance in religion by the Vatican and Catholicism.
