He set a trend for perecuting christians. When the great fire in rome broke out he didn't reely fiddle while rome burned. He wasn't near rome, but when he heard the news he rusherd back to put out the fire. He had to find a scape goat and the strange eastern cult known as christianety seemed great. The cristians responded by coming up with the story of fiddling while rome burned

After the burning of Rome Nero rebuilt the city and on Palatine Hill built a palace for himself. Today the Colosseum sits on what once was a lake on the palace grounds and parts of his palace are now open for viewing. Descriptions of the time of Nero tell of rooms with gems sparkling in the vaulted ceilings and vast halls/rooms. He broke the treasury of Rome building his palace and eventually paid with his life.
