This may be a slightly different answer to the question, but Father Christmas/Santa DOES exsist, like he has exsisted for centuries and centuries, and so are the Elves and Faeries that assist him in his magical work. But some parents do not believe in magic and Father Christmas, so yes, they do leave the presents instead, but there still is a Santa who delivers presents to children who do believe, so remember to send a letter in the post properly, to Santa in Lapland (Finland), or leave it by the Fireplace for the Faeries to pick it up. Some people don't like the thought of a magical, jolly man visiting their house, not because of the magical jolly part, but because of the thought of a man entering their house. Some children may even be scared of Father Christmas, and that is why they say he's not real. But he is, don't ever stop believing. Even adults believe.
