  • In most cases as soon as guests arrive there should be finger foods and alcohol available. In some cases the person putting on the wedding reception will give each guest two free tickets for alcohol or, it's completely acceptable to have a paying bar (meaning the guests can buy their own drinks.) The parents only need to provide the wine or any champagne at the guests tables and then the groom's father generally pays the bar bill if he decides not want to have a paying bar. If this is the case then you don't have to worry about having the reception start at 12 noon. If there is another reason then an hour shouldn't make a difference, but at least wine should be on the table for guests.
