No. The RCIA. like the Catholic faith, is a journey. Terms such as Elect and Neophyte are titles the church uses to mark the stages of that journey. The rites of the Easter Vigil (baptism, confirmation, and holy communion are three of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. It is the Holy Sprit working through the sacraments that transforms. In Catholic theology this transformation occurs through an ongoing process rather than at a single point. After the first year, neophytes become members of the faithful and encouraged to fully participate in lay ministry, give to the parish as able, and participate in the life of their local parish as part of the "priesthood of believers."
