Boys love cars. A good car theme or your son's favorite Tv character. I've also noticed that safari themes are becoming very popular.
For a baby boys first birthday party , its always safe to use disney or winnie the pooh decorations. Cars, boats, and other such masculine themes will work too.
You can do bowling or roller skating or somthing that he likes to do. Ask him

Chris Corradino from Iconic Boys was born on December 14th, 1998. Chris is 14 and will be 15 this year on his birthday in December.
We have two boys (they are now turning two & three) and for the oldest one's first birthday, we just did a family birthday party at the house. We figured he was too young to remember anything, so why spend the money to throw a big party? We did get a bunch of "You're one year old!" decorations with a little crown, bib, outfit and a number one shaped candle (for pictures and keepsakes - he was the "King" for the day). When our youngest was turning one, we had a joint birthday party for them at Jumpster's - it is one of those fun places for kids that has all kinds of inflatable toys for them to bounce & slide on. Our two year old loved it, the one year old slept through it! I think you would have the most success just having a small party at your home and treating your little one as a "King" for the day, but that's just my two cents. Whatever you decide, I hope it's great!

No, birthday months have nothing to do with when Puberty begins for a boy. Most boys will begin puberty around the age of 10-12 years-old. Puberty lasts a few years.
