Christmas is a festive occasion in London and residences, streets and buildings are decorated with Christmas trees and other holiday decorations. Many spend the holiday with family and exchange gifts. Children wake up to find gifts in either stockings or hidden throughout the house for them to find that Father Christmas has left for them. A huge festive meal, traditionally consisting of turkey with all the trimmings and sweets like pies and puddings, is very much a big part of the day. In addition, many attend special holiday church services on the day as well.

What is the date of Christmas in Japan?

In Japan, the shops are covered with decorations from early Dec, on the 24th of Dec people "celebrate" Xmas by eating chicken and cream cake with strawberries and then on the 25th they take down all the decorations and put up the new year ones. Apart from the small minority of Christians (who usually celebrate on the nearest Sunday to the 25th) in as much as any one does anything for Xmas it is the 24th of Dec that people celebrate.
