A lot of Fireworks. Traditional Food like tamales (meat covered in cornmeal dough and baked or steamed in corn husks), rellenitos (black smashed beans covered in a plantain dough topped with sugar), and other traditional foods.

Well years ago it was celebrated with the carnival, the people would disguise like devils, or diablos cojuelos like they are called in Dominican Republic, there are another names like Macaraos, Lechones. But nowadays the government has separated the carnival form the independece day, there is a parade with people from the dominican army, airplanes and a parachute show. The president gives a speech and is a holyday.
