When we lose someone we love, we must do everything we can to conquer that person back (unless that person is happy with someone else, or does not love us anymore, of course). Doing unusual stuff just makes it more... special. Visible. My advice is: go ahead and send her like 100 red roses. However, remember that this alone is not enough; you've got to work on the real issues that brought you two apart - and make sure she knows and believes in this 'learning from the mistakes' approach. Roses are great but they don't last long. ;) Good Luck!
