In the runup to Rembrance Day, 11th November, we wear poppies to represent the fact that after World War One, the only thing that grew in the war fields was poppies.
Veterans Day and Poppy Day are not the same, though they are related. Veterans Day, observed in the United States on November 11, honors all military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Poppy Day, often associated with Remembrance Day in Commonwealth countries, commemorates those who lost their lives in military service, with the red poppy symbolizing remembrance. While both days occur in November and are linked to honoring military service, their focus and traditions differ.
