most bosnians are of the Muslim religion and Muslims have their own holidays so they dont celebrate Christmas. December 25th 2011 UPDATE: Actually to correct the above answer since its partially untrue. Bosnians can celebrate Christmas because some ARE Christians. Most are Orthodox which just celebrate Christmas on or near January 7 in the Gregorian calendar, which is celebrated around the same time on the Julian calendar (what Canadians and American's use). Very minimal are Muslim but as any religion it could pick up at any given time, and yes if they are Muslim they do not celebrate Christmas. Most are Orthodox though because they are Slavic like the Greeks, Russians, Ukrainians, etc. It all depends also on how devout they are as well, some just celebrate on both of just December 25th because its become "tradition" in the Western World.

So the Chinese celebrate Christmas, but most of people do not celebrate it for the same reasons that Christians do. If you were to visit China during Christmas time, you'd see signs of Christmas everywhere you looked. One can find Christmas trees, lights, and other decorations on the streets and in department stores, particularly in urban areas. Attendance at Christmas Eve parties and celebrations has also become more and more popular. Many Chinese people, especially the young men, celebrate this holiday by exchanging Christmas cards & gifts, hanging Chinese Christmas decobbbration at home, eating Christmas dinners in nice western restaurants (not cooking at home), attending Christmas Eve parties, and spending time with family and friends. There is Christmas shopping too. The stores will offer discounts and coupons to attract more customers. Although December 25th is not a public holiday, Christmas has become part of life for Chinese people in recent years.

Christians who celebrate it, do it to remember and honor the birth of Jesus Christ. They celebrate Christ's birth on Christmas day. He really wasn't born that day though! Non-Christians who celebrate it, do so because it has become a secular tradition based on folklore with roots in paganism (even if they don't know that).
