The Celtic culture celebrated All Hallow's Eve around the time we celebrate Halloween. The Celts believed that on that day, spirits could return to the Earth and walk among the living. All Hallow's was also the Celtic New Year celebration. In the Middle Ages, people would fear Hallow's Eve, believing that demons went out to hunt on that night. As the centuries went on, people again adopted the tradition of going out on Hallow's Eve, but took on the Old English tradition of dressing up to scare away evil spirits.

It is claimed but incorrect that the Holidays referred to are originally All Hallows Eve and the celebration of Guy Fawks Night (5th November) which occurs to celebrate The Gun Powder Plot when Fawks and a cohort attempted to blow up the British Parliment. When decorating for Halloween and Thanksgiving collectively, go for a harvest theme rather than either of the two holidays. Decorate with scarecrows, indian corn, pumpkins, pinecone wreaths and other such objects.
Bonfires played a huge role in the pagan festival of Samhain. People would walk between two large fires to "cleanse" the soul, and animals would sometimes be slaughtered on the flames.
