As far as I know there is no tradition. It probably depends on the family. You can try giving each child a present and they all open them at the same time. Or whoever you find a present for first under the tree gets to open it and go from there. Or if you want one child to open at a time and want it to be totaly fair, draw names or pick numbers the night before to see who gets to open first. And then every year rotate. Whoever was second will be first next year, and who was first will be last, etc. Or draw names or pick numbers every year. Those are great ways in my family we go in an order from youngest to oldest .
