After the ascension of Jesus, the Apostles returned to Jerusalem, as instructed. They gathered in the upper room, where they devoted themselves to prayer and awaited the promised Holy Spirit. During this time, they also chose Matthias to replace Judas Iscariot as one of the Twelve Apostles, preparing for their mission to spread the Gospel. This period of waiting culminated in the event of Pentecost, where they received the Holy Spirit and began their public ministry.
