Even though many try to argue against the legitimacy of the tree as a christian symbol, the truth of the fact is that the tree is used on scripture as a simbol of life and kind protection.

If Christians were to avoid the use of something just because the pagans used it also, it would be sinful to use medicinal herbs. If the witches use chamomile to help with abdominal pain, that does not mean that Christians are to avoid the use of it!

The same as the cross or the torture stake on which Jesus was nailed. It was used by the pagans as an ignominious symbol, an instrument of shame and death. However Paul praised the cross and used it as a symbol of liberation!

In the same manner, one can find pagan uses for the tree, and argue that Christians should not use it. This position has absolutely no merit.

The Christian tradition of the Christmas tree says that St. Boniface in Germany instituted it as a symbol of Christianity.

The scriptures use the tre as a symbol of life, i.e. the Tree of Life, which represents Christ. Jesus is the Tree of Life; so we can say that the Christmas tree represents Jesus as the Tree of life.

The book of revelation talks about trees that would bear fruit year round during the messianic kingdom. This is also a representation of life by Jesus. And one could say that the Christmas ornaments than hang from the Christmas tree are the fruits of life.

Also, in one of his parables Jesus represented His Kingdom as a mustard tree.

Therefore we can say that trees have a lot to do with Christ and his Kingdom
