The first Thanksgiving in the New World that was recorded is when the pilgrims gathered together with the Indians to give thanks for a successful harvest. In that respect, yes, it was the first Thanksgiving.

Such fare is common nowadays too. For example, cranberries and pumpkins find their way onto modern Thanksgiving tables. So might they have been found during that first Thanksgiving celebration.
