A "card shower" is a terrific way to celebrate the anniversary of a couple who do not want gifts or have a large number of long distance friends and family. Typically a card shower is celebrated for the "big" anniversaries, 40th, 50th, etc. Invitations are sent by the "host" who is typically the children, grandchildren or very dear friends of the couple. The card shower may or may not be kept a secret from the couple. It is fun to keep it a secret and see how long it takes them to figure out why they are suddenly getting so many cards. In lieu of sending the cards directly to the couple, the cards may be sent to a family member who is in charge of compiling them into a scrapbook to present to the couple instead.

The family of Anne and Dan Jones invite you to participate in a card shower to celebrate Anne and Dan's 50th Wedding Anniversary. They were married on June 22, 1959 in Birmingham, Alabama. The invitations might also have a printed picture of the couple on their wedding day and perhaps a recent photo.
