it"s a stupid Pagan Myth with some threadbare Christian traditions- there was a Saint Nicholas- but his feast falls on December 6 ( My parents" wedding anniversary)-strictly speaking, not even in Advent. There is a Swiss custom called the Klausjagen=- that honors St. Nicholas on Dec. 6 but has Nothing to do with Christmas, at all! There are parades, fireworks, and dancing and drumming acts- like many defiles. The Klausjagen- or Claus- Hunt, has nothing to do with the Red and White bearer of gifts. Santa Claus also is too focused on the passive receipt of gifts ( Bring the toys to me, in so many Clausist poems). It"s a myth and built on a whole pile-foundation of lies. Then again, when kiddies find out Santa is a schuck- maybe Religion is too, this has happened . If Santa Claus was merely ( taught) as a sort of symbolic thing like Uncle Sam or Cupid - well maybe it would be more harmless., It is harmless but I don"t know if it is really good as it is founded on deceptions and deceit- Honesty should be the Best Policy!
