Some don't because it's directly traceable to a pagan custom.

I suspect that some, possibly a majority, of those who cite that reason may actually be more influenced by the fact that putting up a Christmas tree is a pain in the rear, and "It's a pagan custom, you heathen!" is just a convenient excuse for not doing what they didn't really want to do anyway.
