vanmahotsava has a very simple meaning, vana=trees,mahotsava=festival. thus on the day of vanmahotsava , we , the people celebrate and take pledge that we will take care of mother nature and do our best to protect it.
First week of July ( 1-7 July ) is celebrated as vanmahotsav day.
It is celebrated to prevent our land from deforestation.
many schools and colleges celebrate van mahotsav by planting some saplings in surrounding areas of schools and colleges.the 63rd vanmahotsav is launched by our former president pratiba patil by planting a sapling of carrabian trumpet tree commonly knawn as basant rani in a school in delhi.our government distributed free saplings to students of schools and colleges to plant them in their surroundings.thus the program vanmahotsav had become sucessful and students played a crucial role in vanmahotsav by, rachana vishwanathula
vanmahotsav can be celebrated in schools, by taking the children on a field trip to the green patches of the area, n showing them the reasons as to why we need to plant trees. then they can be given saplings that can be planted in the school ground. by doing so the children will be able to see for themselves how the tree grows,how to protect it, n also see the funa and flora associated with it.
