You can use regular plastic, but the most efficient would be the greenhouse plastic. Regular plastic sheets will tear easily when cut because its ends fray. Greenhouse plastic is specially made to resist tearing and stand up to weather much better. Greenhouse plastic is actually knitted instead of formed into sheets. This type of plastic is prefect for wrapping around different sizes and shapes of greenhouses, and be framed around vents, doors, and windows. Greenhouse plastics are the preferred coverings for greenhouses today as it lowers the actual costs of constructing a greenhouse.
There are 4 different types of Greenhouse Plastics: Polyethylene, Copolymer, Polyvinyl, and Polycarbonate.
Polyethylene
The first type of greenhouse plastic is called polyethylene plastic. This type of plastic is also available in two different strengths. These are commercial grade for large industrial applications and a utility grade for personal use. Most home centers will carry the utility grade and is mostly used by gardeners constructing their greenhouses. Polyethylene plastic will last for a year or two when kept in good condition. Smaller tears can be repaired with a poly repair kit.
Copolymer Plastic
A grade above the polyethylene plastics is the copolymer plastic. It is a little more durable and longer lasting. It can last on your greenhouse upwards of three years before it begins to turn brittle and break. The freezing and thawing of the plastic will cause it to be brittle after a few years. There are also more expensive copolymer plastics that are even more durable and will mimic the effects of glass.
Polyvinyl Plastic
This is the more expensive type of plastics as compared to the other two. However, it is also more durable than the previous two. Greenhouses covered over in polyvinyl plastic will benefit from the strength of this plastic. Replacement does not have to happen until after five years if you have taken good care of it with regular cleaning and inspection.
Polycarbonate Plastic
The most durable of all the greenhouse plastic is called polycarbonate plastic. It is actually a double, or a twin wall, polyethylene plastic. It can last for up to a decade if cared for correctly. It will also maintain a lot of heat and humidity for year round growing.
If you are building, or thinking of building, a greenhouse, look into these greenhouse plastics for an inexpensive and easy do it yourself greenhouse option.
I hope this helps, and good luck with the greenhouse!

The glass or plastic walls of a greenhouse represent greenhouse gases in the atmosphere by trapping heat energy inside, much like how greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere trap heat.
Single-use plastic bottles are a problem because they contribute to plastic pollution in the environment. These bottles take hundreds of years to decompose, leading to accumulation in landfills and oceans. The production and disposal of these bottles also contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and resource depletion.
To make a greenhouse using plastic sheeting, you can start by building a frame using PVC pipes or wood. Cover the frame with clear plastic sheeting, ensuring it is securely attached. Add doors and vents for ventilation. Place the greenhouse in a sunny location and monitor the temperature and humidity levels inside.
Plastic in itself doesn't cause Global Warming. When we fail to recycle plastics we force manufacturers to use more oil to make more plastic. The factories use energy, which is usually generated by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). This burning releases carbon dioxide (CO2), a greenhouse gas which is causing Global Warming.
Regular, normal, unoriginal plastic.

One of the main benefits of plastic glassware is that it will not break like regular glassware. It is perfect for outdoor use and parties where children are involved.
You need grow lights which are in another light spectrum. Regular lights won't do as well to help your plants.
To build a DIY greenhouse using plastic sheeting, you will need to create a frame using PVC pipes or wood. Cover the frame with the plastic sheeting, securing it tightly. Make sure to leave openings for ventilation and access. Add shelves or racks inside for plants. Water regularly and monitor the temperature inside the greenhouse.
Greenhouse thermometers typically include a humidity measurement which regular thermometers do not. Outdoor thermometers can also be used as they are stronger than a typical indoor thermometer.
