It depends on how fast you can bike, if it's uphill or downhill, etc, etc. The average is between 8-13 mph for most people to bike on a 10-speed on the whole. By that measurement, it could take 50-90 minutes or so on the average.
I have known people who rode motorcycles to and from work every day, and never went out on the bike just for fun, but these people are not the people I would call "bikers". I met some guys who rode every chance they get when they are not working, as a form of entertainment, and it encompassed every thing about them, from the clothes they wore to the places they would go, and I started riding with them. I married a guy who doesn't ride, and I thought I had gotten away but the riding bug had bit me, and I started meeting women who had their own bikes, and now I have passed the rider's edge course and got my liscesnse and I'm getting a bike too. Maybe you can't carry many groceries on the bike, but you ride ever chance you get, and even save on some gas by taking the bike to work when the weather is nice. I am getting a bike because I like to ride, and that is the only reason. The high price of gas is just an added incentive for me. I do my grocery shopping once a week and I will probably take the car. Lady T
