First off, you cant put a pound figure on it, its just to bulky, like boxes paper towels TV dinner trays and then the box, toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls, then there is the peelings of carrots and potatoes etc etc..eat and apple a day and you have a apple core. then lets throw in, left overs that got left over to long, clean out the fridge comes table scraps..into the trash...broke a dish into the trash. Now comes old clothes mom doesn't want any more..trash emm, right now you kinda see the problem don't you. ..so I have come up with a formula it works like this...
2 large garbage bags per person per week
1 Large garbage bag per mo for pets, picnics and guest so in my family of two now its around 17 large garbage bags a month...why
because we don't eat out and we have family over every week for picnic or just a great dinner...we don't recycle here because the city government is dumb as a box of rocks....
From Statistics Canada web site, it appears that the total trash generated by Canadians can be averaged out to 1 tonne per person per year.
with a population of 34.4 million (2011), that means roughly 662 tonnes per week.
well i think you have to see how much your family eats a week and keep track. or count how much of the food they throw away!! <northdale middle school i the bomb> if you think this came form a nerd it dident!! it was lexi green-vonshoiger
About 1,000,000 lbs per person
It is food without excess packaging. There is no need to throw so much rubbish away. Reusable containers is a better way.

You should not throw any food at your neighbor. Throwing food at people is very rude.
