It is the same technique for all bikes.
- Lean back until your bum is over the rear hub,
- If the front wheel doesn't come up, push your feet into the pedals like you want to flip off the back,
- Once the wheel is up try and keep your weight centered over the rear hub as this is your balance point.
If the wheel comes too high:
- Move your weight forward,
- If you have a rear brake, pull it slightly then let it off when the wheel is lower.
If the wheel drops too low:
- Lean back and push your feet into the pedals.
NB:
- You need to be standing up to do a manual.
- If you do it sitting down and have to pedal to get into it then this is not a manual, it's a Coaster Wheelie.
Riding is riding, most of it is just like any other kind of riding. Then when it comes to how to deal with various obstacles it's a lot about getting out of the saddle, choosing the right gear, timing your pedalling so that you don't end up with cranks dead center just when you need to push. You can probably find some hints and tips online, but most of it you have to figure out by riding and watching other riders.
