I had not heard of this until I shared this question with a friend of mine. He said that it does work and he believes it is not dangerous. He did say that he has heard of it being used during exercise. You cut out holes for your head and arms and wear it like a shirt. It works somewhat like a sauna, holding your body heat in and causing you to sweat. I don't think it would have the same effect if you wore it without exercising, though.
