A center lock rotor tool is used in automotive maintenance to remove and install center lock rotors on vehicles. This tool helps to securely fasten or loosen the center lock nut that holds the rotor in place. It is essential for proper maintenance and repair of the braking system in vehicles.
The purpose of the Shimano rotor lockring tool is to securely tighten or loosen the lockring on a bike's disc brake rotor. This tool is used in bike maintenance to ensure that the rotor is properly installed and aligned with the brake caliper, which helps maintain the braking performance and safety of the bike.
Torque is generated from power sources and rotate rotor
rotor will point to #1 at TDC.
The brake spindle goes through the center of the rotor. You will see it when rotor is removed.

A centerlock rotor tool is used to install and remove disc brake rotors on bicycles. It is designed to securely fasten or loosen the centerlock lockring that holds the rotor in place on the hub. This tool is essential for maintaining and servicing disc brake systems on bicycles, ensuring proper alignment and function of the rotors for safe and efficient braking performance.
At TDC, on the compression stroke, the rotor will will be pointing at the # 1 spark plug electrode on the distributor cap.
To access the rotor, remove the tire and brake caliper. There will be a cap protecting the bolt that holds the rotor onto the spindle. Removing the cap, located in the center of the rotor (on the spindle, not the rotor itself) will allow you to get access to the bolt. Removing that bolt frees the rotor from the spindle.

To find the magnetic center of a motor, you can use a simple method involving a voltmeter and the rotor. First, disconnect the motor from its power source, then manually rotate the rotor to find its neutral position where the magnetic fields balance. Measure the voltage across the motor terminals while slowly rotating the rotor; the magnetic center will be where the voltage is at its minimum. Mark this position, as it indicates the rotor's alignment with the stator's magnetic field.
So that the pads mate to the surface of the rotor.
