In the event of a crash with a car containing a cylinder of pressurized hydrogen the cylinder could rupture and any sort of ignition would cause the very flammable hydrogen to catch resulting in an explosion. A cylinder containing hydrogen in a car is a potetnial bomb. This is why the use of hydrogen is still mostly unseen in the automotive industry
