Basically plastic bags are not biodegradable. Plastic bags thrown out as waste on lands do not decompose and remain there for a long time. It weakens the soil in hilly areas, makes the roots of trees exposed because of that, trees loose their strength to survive. Further disruption of soil causes washing off vegetation and nutrients that are in the soil. If plastic bags are burnt, they give out hazardous gases causing air pollution. At times, cattle's happens to swallow plastic waste while they are grazing; this causes them to be affected by digestion problems, which causes death.

Plastic is dangerous for organisms in the environment due to its nearly indestructible properties. Most plastic can also be seen as food for certain bird, seal or whale species. These organisms can ingest plastic or get entangled, suffocate or die of starvation due to the persist ency and at the same time flexibility of the material.

All plastics leach some chemicals into whatever the plastic is holding. we should not use a vault of plastic , it harms the environment because it is not a biodegradable substance , it has zinc chloride added in it which is very harmful for living habitats,it can choke the respiratory system of our body and also block the digestive tract of animals and also does not degrade for thousands of years ,so these are the reasons to avoiding plastic. : (an answer written by student of std 8th)
