Engineering covers a broad spectrum of many, many different disciplines. To name only a few fields, engineering can range from chemical, biomedical, electrical, environmental, civil, mechanical, aeronautical, computer, systems, etc...
Generally, engineering degrees incorporate theory and applications of the discipline. For example, I am studying electrical engineering. Many of my courses are devoted to electromagnetic phenomena and the mathematical equations that govern it. But then there are design and laboratory courses where you are working hands-on and seeing real world applications of the theories learned in other courses.
Engineering then becomes not only a profession, but a way of life, as you begin to develop different perspectives of looking at and solving problems.

To become an industrial engineer, a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or a related field, such as mechanical or manufacturing engineering, is typically required. Some positions may also prefer or require a master's degree in industrial engineering or an MBA with a focus on operations management. Additionally, obtaining a Professional Engineer (PE) license can enhance job prospects and credibility in the field. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for success in this profession.
