Height = 36 inches (3 feet)
Diameter = 21 inches
A standard 55-gallon steel drum typically has a height of about 33 inches (84 cm) and a diameter of approximately 23 inches (58 cm). These dimensions can vary slightly depending on the manufacturer and specific design of the drum.
Dimensions are 970mm high by 580mm diameter
A standard 55-gallon drum typically has a diameter of about 22.5 inches (57.15 cm). This measurement can vary slightly depending on the specific design or manufacturer, but 22.5 inches is a common size for most steel and plastic drums used for storage and transportation.
dia of 1.36 inches x 1 ft-12 inches = 1.33 gal US.
The only way that I know of to do it accurately is to have the drum standing upright on it's bottom. If you measure the height of the drum in inches and divide 55 by the height it will tell you how many gallons are in it. For instance: If the drum measures 36 inches high then you know that each inch is equal to 1.527 gallons. 55 divided by 36 equals 1.53. If the tape measure reads 5 and 3/4 inches then you would multiply 1.53 times 5.75 (5 3/4). There would be about 8.8 gallons left in the drum. The measurement of 36 inches was just a guess on my part. You will have to measure a drum for yourself. I would go out to the barn and measure one but it's raining and you are the one that wants to know. The standard 55 gal drums are 22.5 inches diameter and 33.5 inches high. I took 33.5 x 1.6417 = 55 gal So with a measurement of 5.75 inches x 1.6417 = 9.44 gals
The dimensions of the 80-gallon water tank are typically around 24 inches in diameter and 48 inches in height.
The standard industrial oil (or barrel) drum has a capacity of 200-liters. In United States gallons (gal) one barrel holds 55-gal.
The volume is that of a cylinder: radius = ½ × diameter volume = π × redius² × height = π × (½ × 3)² × 5 ft³ = 11¼π ft³ ≈ 35.343 ft³ What this is in gallons depends upon the gallon used: 1 ft³ ≈ 6.229 imp gal → 35.343 ft³ ≈ 35.343 × 6.229 imp gal ≈ 220.15 imp gal 1 ft³ ≈ 7.481 US gal → 35.343 ft³ ≈ 35.343 × 7.481 US gal ≈ 264.38 US gal
