How important is the study of Occupational Safety and Health in Industrial Engineers?

It can be vitally important. Suppose you are designing a machine. It is not enough that the machine will perform it's intended task. Workers will need to adjust and maintain the machine, as well as operate it. Did you design the needed guarding of moving parts? Is the machine design one that will facilitate lockout of energy during maintenance? Does the design produce unhealthy levels of noise, or air contaminants? What about cumulative trauma, strains and sprains?

Where can I buy a industrial machine guard?

You can buy a industrial machine guard at www.rockfordsystems.com. You can also get it from www.isecontrols.com

What is the meaning of commissioning of a machine?

Commissioning of a machine - means that a machine is installed, connected and put to its intended use. However it involves the following : 1. Buying the machine for the purpose, with correct specification 2. getting the machine to the location where it needs to be used. 3. Place the machine exactly in its point of use. 4. Connect the services needed for the machine - it may need suitable electrical connection, suitable water, steam, air, and other pipe lines, etc depending upon the type of machine, use of the machine, purpose of the machine. 5. Once the machine is in place, connected with its service lines as above, you need test the machine for its intended operation. First you test charge the machine, check the connections, dry run with out the product, then after confirming that all its functions look safe, in line with specification and its intended use, you take the real product and try with initial, test speed / slow speed etc. This way you complete the initial checking, test, dry run and product run and then declare that the machine is ready to run for its purpose and hand over the machine to its enduser. You may need need to provide the training also to the end user, operators, technicians, owner to ensure safe, reliable use. Also hand over all the machine related documents to the end user. This process is known as commissioning of the machine.

What are disadvantages of heat produced by friction in machines?

energy used for the machine will get lost as heat .machine parts will get worn out.

What happens to energy that seems to be lost due to friction in a simple machine?

The energy "lost" due to friction in a simple machine is actually converted into heat and sound. This energy is not truly lost but rather transformed into a different form that is not useful for performing work. Reducing friction or designing more efficient machines can help minimize this energy loss.

Why have attempts to create a perfectly energy efficient machine been unsuccessful?

The input energy can never equal the energy outputted by any machine because energy is always lost in the process. Where that energy is lost is dependent on the machine, but some easy examples would be heat (namely due to friction), sound, and radiant (light).

Why does reducing the friction of a machine increase it's efficiency?

Reducing friction in a machine decreases the amount of energy lost as heat, making the machine more efficient. This means that more of the input energy is converted into useful work or output, increasing the overall efficiency of the machine.

What is the Energy transfer for a washing machine?

A washing machine typically uses electrical energy to power its motor, pump, and controls, converting it into mechanical energy to agitate and spin the drum. Some energy is lost as heat during operation, but the primary function of a washing machine is to transfer mechanical energy to the clothes through agitation and spinning to clean them effectively.

In a machine work output is less than work input because some energy is converted into thermal energy.?

Yes some energy is lost in the form of heat and so the efficiency of the machine is always less than 1 ie 100%

In a machine is work output less than work input because some energy is converted into thermal energy?

Yes some energy is lost in the form of heat and so the efficiency of the machine is always less than 1 ie 100%

Why is it not possible to construct a perpetual-motion machine?

Some energy will always be lost due to different factors such as friction.

Why will you never get more work out of a machine than you put into it?

This is known as the principle of conservation of energy, where the total amount of energy put into a machine is equal to the total amount of work the machine can output. Due to factors like friction and heat, some input energy is always lost, making it impossible to get more work out of the machine than what was initially put in.

Why is the efficiency of a machine is always less than 100 percent?

Some work is lost due to friction. This energy is normally released as heat.

How do you recover the energy loss of thermal energy by vessels engine?

Thermal energy lost in any machine can not be recoverd. Sometimes part of the energy can be recovered, but never all of it. Basically, heat is wasted, or unusable, energy.
