If unionized a boilermaker can earn $19 per hour on his first year, and up to $46 per hour after being a journeyman. I was a second year boilermaker, making $26 an hour, being paid time and a half on hours 9 and 10 of the shift, and the 11th and 12th and 13th hours of the shift I was paid double time. On weekends I was paid double time for the entire shift (which was 12 or 13 hours). And I was paid weekly, pulling in about $1300 a week (after being taxed just about $1000). Very good pay. My father is a superintendant, and he can make up to $1000 a day, depending on the job. Very flexible work is offered, especially after having journeyman papers.
