Database Management Systems, or DBMS, are software applications specially designed to interact with the user and other applications, as well as the database itself, to analyze data. All files in a software have file name extensions to identify their file types. For memory files .mem is the file name extension.

The system database that contains descriptions of the data in the database is called the data dictionary or metadata repository. It stores information about the structure, definition, and organization of data elements within the database to help users and systems work with the data effectively.
I would assume it was a relational database.. I also assume you mean the fingerprint database that is used by the police forces. as far as i am aware it is a relational database. I think because you could query either a name or a fingerprint reading and then get the information relating to it..Example: If you were looking for the name to a set of fingerprints, you would enter the finger print into your query, and then you might get a name if it is in the database, and if you were looking for the fingerprints to a guy, you would enter a name and you might get the fingerprints for him if you have the right name and it is contained within the database.
A database field name is a unique identifier for a particular piece of data within a database table. It helps to organize and distinguish different types of information stored in the database. Each field name typically corresponds to a specific attribute or characteristic of the data being stored.

Another name for a database table is a "relation." In the context of relational databases, a relation consists of rows and columns, where each row represents a record and each column represents an attribute of that record. Additionally, some may refer to a table as a "file" in older database terminology.

The same you would to any other file. Consider the purpose of your database, what you are using it for, what data you are compiling. Think about what product you are producing, what the central idea of the file is. That is your name.
The default file name for a database created in Access 2010 is "Database1.accdb." If you create additional databases without changing the name, they will increment sequentially (e.g., Database2.accdb, Database3.accdb, etc.). The .accdb extension indicates that the file is in the Access 2007-2010 format.
On File choose New, a window will appear and ask you for New Project or Database. Choose Database and click New File. It will then ask you to give a database name. After your Database is made, you can now add tables.
Answer Broadly speaking, a relational database is one that can be accessed by any of the datum items within the database, or things RELATED to them. For example, a telephone directory in the U.S. usually is accessed by the last name of the person or business looked for. However, it can also be accessed by the telephone number ( which used to be called a "reverse directory" ) or the address of the party. In Thailand, the telephone directory is alphabetized by the FIRST name of the party listed.A fully relational database for a telephone directory would allow access by any of these plus others (e.g. siblings/partners/children/... of the party, etc. )
An Access database file is typically stored similarly to other computer generated files found on the hard drive of a computer. Access database files will have a .mdb or .accmdb file name extension.
