What are the three domains of life and what organisms does each contain?

Domain, in Life Science, is the largest group and the most vague. I consists of three: Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukaryota. After this group, they cluster down smaller and closer in character: Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. The Archaea Domain is the least group to be found today - morely are organisms found around hot springs, volcanic openings, deep in the sea floor, or any other extreme areas that other organisms wouldn't be able to survive. The Bacteria Domain is very well known today. This consists of the organisms that break down organic matter or attempt to take over other cells and make them sick. The Eukaryota Domain is the other well-known domain which holds animals, plants, fungi, and protists.

Swedish scientist Carl Linnaeus is known for developing the system of classifying animals that we still use today. He created a hierarchical system of classification based on shared characteristics, grouping organisms into categories such as kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species.

Common names are what the most of us use. Scientific names are what scientists use to differentiate, one from another in the classification system. The difference is precision: the scientific name is an attempt to remove as much ambiguity as possible, in order to avoid confusion. This level of precision is not usually needed in most circumstances and common names are easier to remember and pronounce. The important thing to remember is that everyone wants others to understand what they're saying, so everyone tries to use terms that have have the best chance to accomplish that goal.
