Well a phoenix is a mythical creature, so there is no real answer. This was the best I could do. The Haast eagle was the largest eagle we know of, it is now extinct. The largest living eagle is the Harpy Eagle, from the Harpia genus, which as far as i can tell is the same genus as the Haast (the Haast eagle's scientific name is Harpagornis moorei). So, if the phoenix did exist, my guess would be due to it's size, it would be a bird of prey from the Harpia genus. I have two names:

The first is;

Harprognatus exornus, which means, "Harpy born from ash"

The second is;

Harprognatus exincendia, which means, "Harpy born from fire"

The first name is more accurate, due to a phoenix is reborn from it's own ashes, although I do like the second one's sound better. Take it or leave it, its all mythology!
