To test a wire for power, you can use a multimeter set to measure voltage. First, ensure the wire is disconnected from any power source. Then, touch the multimeter's probes to the wire's exposed metal ends. If the multimeter shows a voltage reading, the wire is carrying power. Remember to always exercise caution when working with electricity.

Go off road and test it their. Put power to it and see if it works. There is only one wire on it and that's the power.
To wire a doorbell transformer, first turn off the power to the circuit. Connect the transformer's black wire to the power source's black wire, and the white wire to the white wire. Then, connect the transformer's low-voltage wires to the doorbell's wires. Finally, turn the power back on and test the doorbell.
Don't know the color of the wire but you will just have to use a test light to see what wire is hot to the radio.
To wire a fan switch, first turn off the power to the circuit. Connect the hot wire from the power source to the black wire on the switch. Connect the white wire from the power source to the white wire on the fan. Connect the ground wires together. Secure all connections with wire nuts and cover with electrical tape. Turn the power back on and test the switch to ensure it is working properly.
Easy test. See if the fusable link wire will stretch when you pull on it. If it does, it means the wire inside has burned in half and the link is no good. note: it may or may not look burned on the outside of the link wire. Better test. With a test light or volt meter, check for power on both sides on the link. No power on one side means the link has burned out and is no good. note: You can also test for power at the fuse box. With key on, if there's no power to the fuse box it's a good indicator the fusable link is bad.
To wire a dishwasher properly, first turn off the power to the circuit. Connect the black wire to the black wire, the white wire to the white wire, and the green or bare wire to the ground screw. Secure the connections with wire nuts and cover them with electrical tape. Finally, turn the power back on and test the dishwasher to ensure it is working correctly.
Use an Ohm meter, make sure the power is off first. A broken wire will read 0 (zero), or infinity.
To wire a GFCI breaker, first turn off the power to the circuit. Then, connect the hot wire to the breaker's terminal, the neutral wire to the neutral bar, and the ground wire to the ground bar. Finally, turn the power back on and test the GFCI breaker to ensure it is working properly.
To wire a single pole light switch, first turn off the power to the circuit. Then, connect the black wire from the switch to the hot wire in the electrical box, and the white wire to the neutral wire. Finally, connect the ground wire to the green screw on the switch. Turn the power back on to test the switch.
To hook up a light switch, first turn off the power to the circuit. Then, connect the black wire from the switch to the black wire from the power source, and the white wire to the white wire. Finally, connect the ground wire to the green screw on the switch. Secure the switch in place and turn the power back on to test the connection.
To wire a Deflecto TF4 fan booster, first turn off the power supply. Then, connect the black wire of the booster to the hot wire in the junction box, the white wire to the neutral wire, and the green wire to the ground wire. Once the connections are secure, turn the power supply back on and test the fan to ensure it is working properly.
