Place colonial nesting boxes on poles, at least ten feet off the ground. Rememeber, martins are swallows, and swallows nest in groups, so provide to the birds as well. There are many types of martin houses, and many sites on the web to show how to construct them. The best time to erect the houses is in late winter, before the birds return in spring, and begin choosing nesting sites.
